Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

Cue is a dating app built around real-world meetups. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we need to make the product work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect:

  • Name, email, and date of birth (used to confirm you are 18+)
  • Profile photos and bio you choose to share
  • Authentication credentials, or third-party tokens if you sign in with Google or Apple

Activity and content you create

  • Messages you send to matches and to Cue AI
  • Meetup proposals, availability windows, and post-date reflections
  • Photos, stories, and timeline posts you publish
  • Likes, matches, and saved profiles

Device and usage data

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • Approximate location (city level) to surface nearby matches and meetup places
  • Precise location only when you grant permission and only while the app is in use
  • Crash diagnostics, performance data, and feature usage

2. How we use your information

  • To run the core matching, messaging, and meetup features
  • To power Cue AI suggestions, openers, and the post-date debrief
  • To keep the community safe — detect spam, fraud, and policy violations
  • To send transactional emails and push notifications you opt into
  • To improve the product through aggregated, de-identified analytics

3. Sharing your information

We do not sell personal information. We share data only in these specific cases:

  • With other users you choose to interact with (your profile, messages, meetup details)
  • With service providers who help us run Cue (cloud hosting, push notifications, analytics, AI inference). These providers are bound by contracts that limit their use of your data.
  • For legal reasons if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of the community
  • In a corporate event such as a merger or acquisition, with notice to you

4. AI features

Cue AI uses large language models from third-party providers to generate suggestions, openers, and post-date reflections. The minimum context needed to produce a response is sent to those providers; no payment data or government IDs are ever included. We do not use your personal messages to train any model.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Access and download your data from the Settings screen
  • Edit or delete profile content at any time
  • Delete your account permanently from Settings → Account. This removes your profile, messages, and uploaded media within 30 days.
  • Opt out of push notifications and marketing emails
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA — contact privacy@cuedate.app to exercise them

6. Safety and minors

Cue is strictly for users 18 and older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will terminate it and delete the associated data. To report concerns, contact safety@cuedate.app.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to use a strong unique password and to enable two-factor authentication where available.

8. Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. After deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons.

9. International transfers

Cue is operated from servers in multiple regions. By using the app you consent to your information being processed in countries that may have data-protection laws different from your own.

10. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If changes are material we will also notify you in-app or by email.
